A Great 3 Day Weekend............

Friday was the start of a three day weekend (aren't they the best?) and we kicked it off by not leaving the house at all on Saturday which was awesome. We stayed in our jammies most of the day, ok all day but there were baths and fresh pjs at a point in the day. Thank you to Stephanie for picking up a few things for me at Sam's Club while she was out or else we would not have had that whole day without leaving the house. We totally ran out of milk and bread, how does that happen so quickly anyway? We were just about to get in the van to go to the store when Stephanie called and said she was headed to Sam's and asked if I needed anything. Perfect timing and while she shopped I gave showers and baths to four dirty kids and put them in fresh pajamas..(told ya there were baths and fresh pjs)
Saturday was soon gone and then there was Sunday School. We were late as usual, but I did get into the nursery for dropping off before Lisa did. For those of you who go to Sunday school with me you know that there is a fine line between late and really late (AKA Lindhorst Late) You know I love ya Lisa, but the fact is that we are the two most time challenged people on the planet! Stephanie and I had nursery during the ten forty service and we were at a bit of a disadvantage due to the fact that neither of our husbands were there to take our oldest three (plus an extra that slept over with them) into the service. We went out on a limb and let Ezra, Andrew, Brianna, and John Michael sit alone. Ethan on the other hand I felt a need to seat with some adults and thankfully the Brownings were willing to let him sit with them. We did not hear anything about our loners and Leah said that Ethan was an angel the whole time. As for Stephanie and I it was a bit hectic, there were nine little ones for us to watch. We managed quite well though. We played with the toys, did some puzzles with them (until there were suddenly like fifteen or more puzzles dumped out at the same time that she and I never saw intact), fed them a snack of cookies and very stale marshmallows, and also had a few rounds of Ring Around the Rosey. Carter had a great time watching the toddlers/preschoolers and also exploring the room. He was our only infant, everyone else was a walker. Some how in the end we had total control and mostly all happy little kids. We even managed to get all those puzzles back together.
Monday afternoon I decided that we needed to take advantage of the day off from school. I simply told the boys that we were going to go out for a while. They thought that we were going to run errands I suppose and so they fussed about leaving. I drove them to Harrisburg and parked the van. Ethan thought that we were at the dentist for some crazy reason, but we of course were not. After a bit more fussing they realized that we were at the movie theatre. Yes that would be me who attemps to take four children to the movies. Really it went quite well. We saw Cheaper By the Dozen 2, and it was a great sequel. Ezra and Ethan loved the movie and Elliot loved the popcorn and the candy! Carter also enjoyed himself, he sampled some candy for the first time ever. I let him gnaw on a Twizzler in an attemt to keep him quiet at one point during the movie. This is a huge ordeal because I am quite anal about what I feed the baby, however desperate times call for desperate action when at the movies with a little one. LOL He has no teeth so he couldn't bite it. He basically just sucked on it and drooled red drool all over the two of us. It did keep him happy. Here is his messy face.

Wiggle Wiggle...............what a busy day

Wow what a busy day we had today. Seems like we were on the go from the minute we rolled out of bed. This unfortunately was not exactly as early as it should have been and the kids were late for school. After that I dropped off Elliot at Kids Day Out. He really loves going there and playing with his friends. Next was Carter's appointment with the pediatrition to recheck the double ear infection, which is now at least only a single ear infection. Hope that he is not planning to be our third child needing tubes. Ezra had two sets and Elliot got his first set last August. I wonder how many infected ears I have dealt with in the last decade. Too many to count for sure! We did have a really great evening. Ethan went with Brianna to take a little ride on Cody. For those of you who don't know that is the name of Brianna's horse. I think that I am soon going to have to give in to Ethan's pleas for riding lessons. He has been asking constantly and we were at the Shafer's when they were heading out to let Brianna ride so he just had to go too. He was totally cracking us up about it. He asked Stephanie how many dollars it will cost for riding lessons, he wanted details. He then proceeds to ask for the figure "including tax" ! Where do they get these things in their little heads? Samantha and Lane came over and had dinner with us. Nothing fancy, it was our Papa John's school night so we ordered pizza of course. Soon Arielle arrived to keep the kids while Samantha and I took the babies to a night time Baby Talk. Then Brian and Stephanie brought Ethan home. Eventually Samantha and I did get out the door with the two little ones. It was not a regular night at Baby Talk tonight. There was a special Wiggles and Tunes presentation. It was so much fun, we saw several friends there. Most of the regulars and a ton of others! What a crowd, it was amazing. Here are some photos of the wiggling good time!

Elliot has basically never slept in that bed.
A huge thank you to my hubby for making it a reality during his visit!

Hello everyone, I only have a few minutes it is almost dinnertime and I have hungry children to deal with. Just wanted to let everyone know that James has arrived safely back in Baghdad. Thank you for keeping him in your prayers as he traveled. He will be there until summertime. It sure seems like forever. The kids and I miss him so much. Carter is really changing fast. He still is not crawling but he sure gets around, he rolls mostly and scoots some too (backwards) ! It is definitely time to baby proof this house. Here are a few photos I took in the kitchen after school today. Ezra was doing his homework and the other three were just playing.

Good to see some old ( and brand new ) friends at Baby Talk

This morning Elliot, Carter, and I went to Baby Talk and guess who was there? Angela, Reagan, and baby Hayden. We had a great time playing and chatting. Then the kids made little snowman puppets, read a great story, and had a little snack. Elliot was so excited to meet Reagan's new baby brother. He insists on calling him by his middle name for some reason though. He is fascinated with comparing the two babies. He counted them and says "same". He was also very intrigued by Hayden's pacifier. Being that he and Carter are both thumb suckers this is not a big surprise. He wanted to be helpful and kept offering it to Hayden, even after he was sleeping without it. Reagan was very proud showing us her new baby brother. We all had a great time.

Saying goodbye again....

Well here is a photo that I took yesterday at the airport. The two weeks went bye way to fast. We had a wonderful visit, just wish it was not over already. The kids had a great time having a sleepover with Andrew and Brianna, that really helped with the goodbyes. While we were at the airport they went to church and then home where Arielle was there to keep them. She is our neighbor and is working out as a really great babysitter for the boys. They adore her! It was really hard for James and I to say goodbye again, I got used to him being here very quickly. I miss him so much already. Last that I heard from him, which was at 2:30 this morning he had landed in Frankfort Germany and still had quite a journey ahead. Please continue to keep him in your prayers as he travels. Thank you. I will be sure to update this when he arrives safely in the green zone.

Double Digits......Where has my baby gone?

Wow, Ezra is now ten years old. Double digits, that is so crazy. Seems like just yesterday he was taking his first steps and now all of a sudden he is ten. How time flies. Today was our last day with James here on R and R leave. We celebrated Ezra's big birthday by starting his day with his favorite breakfast served on what else but our special hallmark birthday plate. Grands Cinnamon rolls. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM they were so gooey and yummy! The real celebration though was at Chuck E Cheese. Yes you read that right, he changed his mind the night before from wanting to go to ShowMe's to wanting to go to CEC. Oh how happy that made me of course, knowing that my little boy still wanted to go "where a kid can be a kid"! We all had a great time even Carter was able to enjoy the excitement this time. The kids, with the exception of Carter all went to have a sleepover at the Shafer's house so they can skip the 0500 wake up at home. They said their goodbyes tonight. I will be taking James back to the airport early Sunday morning.

Finally starting my blog

Well, 2006 is here and I am finally starting this blog that I have been meaning to do for a while now. the kids went back to school this week and we are still enjoying our visit with James. He leaves out again on Sunday for another five or six months in Baghdad. This two week R/R leave is going by way too fast. He did make it in in time for Christmas which was quite a blessing. It was definitely the best Christmas gift possible. We had not seen him in over seven months. Carter was only six weeks old last time that Daddy saw him and now he is almost ten months old. He is growing so fast, his first birthday will be here before I know what happens. Right now though Ezra's birthday is coming soon, it is this weekend. He is turning ten! DOUBLE DIGITS! It is hard to think that ten years ago James and I were preparing for our miracle baby. He was due in February of 1996, however I was so lucky to carry him to January 7th, three and a half weeks early. When you consider that my water broke in August of 1995 and we managed through five months of total bedrest to keep him inside long enough to get ready for life outside of the womb, he was definately our little miracle. Ten years, wow how time flies when your family is growing. We now have four wonderful little boys. This picture is of the four of them in front of our Christmas tree.
