Memorial Day Weekend 2006

Ethan was being a great big brother to Elliot at the parade, he was making sure that he was safe and getting his share of the candy!

Carter enjoyed the parade despite the heat. He stayed cool in the shade!

We ran into several friends when we got there and the kids had a great time. Ezra missed out on the parade though. He was not feeling well. I took him to prompt care that afternoon and learned that it was just his allergies and that he needed to be on a stronger allergy med and that has made a huge difference for him. Later that day he was feeling a bit better and went with the "guys" for wings! They tried the new place but have tried to convince the wives that it was not as good as ShowMe's. We are smart enough to figure that there must have been a huge difference in the waitresses there. Boys will be boys I suppose.
While they were doing that the three little ones and I went to the park to meet up with some friends. Here a few pictures from that.

On Sunday we enjoyed a visit with my brother and his family. Then later that night we watched the Herrin Festa Italiana fireworks display from my parents house. That was with my sister and her "significant other", and also my niece and her husband and their little girl.

Monday was very busy. We went over to Phillip and Patty's for swimming and a barbecue. The kids had a great time and so did we. All of the boys swam, even Elliot who last year wouldn't get in the water. Here are some pictures from that.

After all of that excitement, and chasing Elliot around naked for a bit. I took the kids home and we gathered our thoughts and headed over to Herrin for the carnival rides at the HerrinFest. The kids really had a busy busy day. We did not get home until late and they were all exhausted and upset when I informed them that they had to get baths even though it was late. After swimming and a carnival it was just absolutely necessary. Here are some pictures from the carnival.

Those last three pictures are from the Zipper, Ezra actually rode this with Ethan, Elliot, Carter, and Mommy watching from below. As you can see he survived this but was not willing to get back on for another turn.

WOW this was a really long post for a really great long weekend/kickoff to summer!

Rub a Dub Dub...................

Rub a Dub Dub, three dirty boys in my tub!
(Ethan, Elliot, and Carter)
A quick triple bubble bath is the fastest way to clean three filthy little ones who had been playing hard outside!

Picnic Day....................

Friday was picnic day at Lincoln School
and also for Baby Talk. Ultimately I
was able to devote one hour to each of
the boys. First I went to Ethan's
kindergarten where the theme was
a day at the beach.
We made star fish pins and Aloha frames
to hold a class photo.
They had Burger King for lunch
and Tropical Snow for a snack.

Next was an hour with the fourth grade, they were already outside when I got there. They did several activities. Thier theme was down on the farm. This was very suitable because they just finished thier chicken unit. They did some really silly relay races. Then they had time for yearbook signing. I had to chuckle when the teacher told them bluntly that if you don't want your mother to read it don't put it in writing. Now there is a life lesson! After that they had a sunflower seed spitting contest! Yes a spitting contest! How gross was that..............but they really had fun with that. After that was the egg toss. Ezra and Damon were doing really well until Ezra caught the egg with his ankle!!! What a mess. I did not get to stay for the udder toss, but I heard that it was great too. (they were medical gloves filled like water balloons)

Then was the Baby Talk picnic which was held at the Williamson County Pavillion. We did so many things there. From sand art to giant bubble blowing; the duck pond game to cookie decorating; digging in birdseed to digging out fossils. We had pizza for lunch and then left with a bag full of goodies. We finished up by having our car seats inspected to be sure they are installed properly. What a busy time! We saw so many of our friends here............

Mother's Day

James with his mother....
Jada with Grandma Rumsey

Jada with Mom

Today was Mother's Day and we were lucky enough to spend time with both of our mothers and my Grandma too! My hubby and kids were so sweet this morning. They swarmed me in bed early and cuddled with me. They brought me some of my gifts and five cards to read! Then they all left me there in peace and went with Daddy to go get breakfast from McDonalds. (I swear he is trying to fatten me up ) We all ate breakfast together and then got ready for church. The little ones sang at church (check out the photos below) and I received flowers and more.........
Everything from my new picnic basket, a gift card for the spa, sweet smelling candles, a framed picture of Ezra, bracelets from Ethan, and handprint poems gallore!
I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful Mother's Day!

Happy Birthday Daddy

Happy 31st Birthday to James! We celebrated tonight with a camo cake. Seemed like the most appropriate choice for him. The boys enjoyed it very much. We also had his friend Ryan over for dinner and cake. He came over and helped James install our bedroom door. Yeah!! Overall it was a very busy day.

4th Grade Zoo Trip

Despite the weather we did go to the St Louis Zoo with Ezra's class. We (yes James and I both went) had four boys in our group : Ezra, Abdallah, Mayko, and Scott. Sherry (Scott's mom) was our other chaperone. Everything went really well and the weather was not that bad after all. The boys had a great time.

Outside play

The boys enjoyed some playtime outside yesterday evening, especially Carter. He sat in the stroller and very much enjoyed having bubbles blown. Ezra, Ethan, and I took turns entertaining him with the bubbles. The older ones had more fun riding on their bikes though. Ethan has mastered the two wheeler and Ezra is working on riding with no hands! Elliot still loves his tricyle, and truth be known Ethan still loves it too! One other note. Is Elliot a fashion statement, or what? Shorts and cowboy boots, actually he insists that they are horse boots not cowboy boots!
